Many are fortunate enough to get information about cochlear implants, but some never get the chance to meet a deaf or deafened person who has been given a cochlear implant. The manufacturers and the professionals know how it works, but can’t tell you what it is really like living with a cochlear implant.
That’s where we come in…..
The Contact Network bridges the gap – made up of volunteers we make ourselves available to answer all your questions. We can identify with you, as we have had a similar experience. We can answer those practical questions that only users can.
Who we are…
As volunteers we come from all walks of life and are all ages. We are young and old, parents and partners, working and retired, born deaf or partially deaf and people who have acquired deafness.
What we all have in common is our cochlear implant and our shared desire to help others who are experiencing loss of hearing and might also benefit from having a cochlear implant.
The UK Contact Network currently has 24 volunteers who also participate in a number of activities aimed at increasing public awareness of cochlear implants.
